Ero seduto da solo nel mio appartamento a Guangzhou, lontano da qualsiasi moschea, lontano da qualsiasi comunità. Per la prima volta nella mia vita, volevo davvero imparare. Non solo conoscere l Islam—ma imparare a pregare, a connettermi, a capire. Ho preso il telefono. Ho digitato. Cercato. Cliccato. Un app per gli orari della preghiera. Un altra per sapere come muovermi, come stare in piedi, come inchinarmi. Un video per le parole messo in pausa, riavvolto, interrotto da pubblicità. Un altra ricerca per capire cosa significassero quelle parole. Ho sentito qualcosa rompersi dentro di me. È così che ora impariamo a pregare? Sparsi su schermi, ricomposti da frammenti, da soli?

Quella notte, mi sedetti nel silenzio. Il telefono ancora acceso nella mia mano. Alzai lo sguardo dalla finestra verso Guangzhou. Questa città che costruisce di più al mondo. Prodotti che semplicemente... funzionano. Perfettamente. Con cura. Come un tutt uno. E il mio cuore fece una semplice domanda:
Perché non per questo? Perché non per qualcosa di così sacro?
In quel momento, vidi chiaramente. Non solo me—ma milioni di noi. A Tokyo. A Londra. Nelle piccole città in tutta Europa. Nuovi musulmani che fanno i primi passi. Famiglie che cercano di trasmettere la fede ai propri figli. Giovani che costruiscono la loro vita in luoghi dove l Islam sembra lontano.
Tutti noi impariamo nello stesso modo in cui imparavo io. Tutti noi meritiamo qualcosa di meglio. Qualcosa di completo.
Sono seduto a Guangzhou. Nel cuore della produzione mondiale. Se non creo io questo, chi lo farà?
